Five more Bangladeshi arrested from different parts of Agartala with 2 Indian touts
Infiltration from the unrest that hit Bangladesh into Tripura continued and five more citizens of the neighbouring Bangladeshi including four women along with two Indian human traffickers were arrested by Agartala city police from Bypass road and from North Gate areas on Friday.
Infiltration into the Northeastern states especially in Tripura and Assam has continued for Bangladesh and in the last few months hundreds of Bangladesh nationals along with Rohingyas were arrested by security forces from different borders of the state.
After a brief half, especially after operation ‘Sindoor’, the infiltration was almost stopped due tight security in the entire stretch of border, but during the one month Bangladesh nationals were arrested from different parts of the state.
Giving details, officer-in-charge (OC) of East Agartala police station, Rana Chatterjee said that based on intelligence inputs over movements of two Bangladeshi women in busiest North Gate area of the city , a team of police during their regular surveillance managed to detained two Bangladeshi women along with an Indian human trafficker (tout).
He said that during preliminary interrogation, arrested two Bangladeshi women, identified as Ruma Sheikh f=of Narayanganj district and Aklina Aktar of Sunamganj district of Bangladesh have revealed with help of Indian tout, Krishna Debnath of Naturn Bazar area of Gomati district, they entered into Indian territory through Sabroom border couple of days ago and are trying to go to other parts of the country by train from Agartala station.
Chatterjee said that during interrogation, they revealed their travel plan and wanted to go to Kolkata by train.
While, in another raid, based on intelligence inputs, the police personnel from Amtali police station arrested three Bangladeshi including two women and a male along with an Indian female tout from Bypass road, before their entry into Agartala Railway station.
Bangladesh nationals were identified as Chan Miah (60), Mamta Khatun and Rina Khatun and the arrested Indian human trafficker was identified as Firoza Khatun of Bishalgarh area of Sepahijala district.
Police sources said that investigation is underway to identify those who helped them enter India and added that police have registered a specific case under sections of the Passports Act, the Foreigners Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and all arrested foreigners were produced before a local court on Friday for further legal proceedings. Police also said that all those involved in these cases will be arrested and police will launch another operation to arrest human traffickers involved with infiltration of Bangladeshi into Tripura’s territory.
