Four more Bangladeshi arrested from different parts of state

Infiltration from the unrest that hit Bangladesh into Tripura continued and four more citizens of the neighbouring Bangladeshi along with an Indian human trafficker were arrested by the Government Railway Police (GRP) and BSF from different parts of the state.

Infiltration into the Northeastern states especially in Tripura and Assam has continued for Bangladesh and in the last few months hundreds of Bangladesh nationals along with Rohingyas were arrested by security forces from different borders of the state.

After a brief half, especially after operation ‘Sindoor’,  the infiltration was almost stopped due tight security in the entire stretch of border, but during the past few days Bangladesh nationals were arrested from different parts  of the state.

Giving details, officer-in-charge (OC) of GRP station of Agartala Railway station, Tapash Das said that based on intelligence inputs in a joint operation conducted by GRP, Railway Protection Force (RPF) and BSF,  one Bangladeshi was  arrested, who were attempting to cross the state by train on Friday evening.

He said that a Bangladeshi national , identified as Abdul Khaleq alias Hasim Miah of Netrokuna district of  Bangladesh, illegally entered India and tried to go to other parts of the country by train from Agartala station.

Das said that during interrogation, he revealed his travel plan  and wanted to go to Kolkata by train.

While, BSF through a press statement said that on Thursday, BSF troops of Border Outpost (BOP) Boxanagar under Sepahijala district apprehended one Indian national and recovered 48 kg of Ganja from his possession.

In joint operation with GRPS Agartala and  Ambassa, BSF troops apprehended three Bangladesh nationals from Agartala and Ambassa Railway station respectively. Apprehended Bangladesh nationals were residents of Khulna and  Netrakona district of Bangladesh.

In a separate operation on specific information BSF troops of BOP Koylatilla under Sepahijala district carried out an operation in hinterland and seized 1 Mahindrs Bolero pickup vehicle loaded with 275 mobile phones of various brands worth Rs 65 Lakhs.

BSF has intensified operation both on border and hinterland to prevent exfiltration, infiltration and trans border crime.

Police sources said that investigation is underway to identify those who helped them enter India and added that police have registered a specific case under sections of the Passports Act, the Foreigners Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and all arrested foreigners were produced before a local court on Saturday for further legal proceedings. Police also said that all those involved in these cases will be arrested and police will launch another operation to arrest human traffickers involved with infiltration of Bangladeshi into Tripura’s territory.
