A cattle theft attempt by suspected Bangladeshi cow lifters in the Mora Nadi area under Khowai Municipal Council of Khowai district was foiled due to the prompt action of the police during a routine night patrol.
Giving details, officer-in-charge (OC) of Khowai police station Krishnadhan Sarkar, the incident took place late on Saturday night when a group of thieves allegedly broke the lock of a cowshed and stole four cattle belonging to Sanjay Ghosh, son of Mahadeb Ghosh, from the Indo-Bangla border-adjacent village of Mora Nadi area.
At the same time, Sub-Inspector (SI) Debaprasad Chakraborty of Khowai police station was conducting a night patrol in the area. During the patrol, he spotted the cattle near the Khowai Park vicinity and immediately recovered them before the thieves could escape with the animals. The cattle were subsequently brought to the police station for necessary formalities.
The successful recovery has drawn appreciation from local residents, who have praised the vigilance and swift response of the Khowai police. Locals stated that the continuous night patrolling by the police played a crucial role in preventing the theft and ensuring the safe recovery of the animals.
The owner, after receiving back the stolen cattle, also expressed his gratitude to the Khowai police station for their timely intervention and effective action.
