The Tripura government is implementing a series of initiatives aimed at transforming the state into a premier education hub while enhancing the overall quality of higher education, Higher Education Minister Kishor Barman said on Wednesday.
Addressing an interactive session titled “Higher Education Dialogue: Building the Future of Higher Education” at Sonar Tori State Guest House, the Minister said the government is committed to strengthening higher education through policy reforms and active stakeholder participation. The programme was organized by the Higher Education Department.
Students representing Tripura Central University, TIT, Polytechnic Colleges, Art College, Law College, College of Teachers Education (Kumarghat), IASE College and several degree colleges participated in the discussion.
Highlighting the importance of youth participation, Barman said students are the future of the nation. He noted that the dialogue was organized to identify existing challenges in higher educational institutions and explore practical solutions for addressing them effectively. He also observed that students, teachers and staff members are best placed to understand the issues faced by their respective institutions.
The Minister assured participants that the Higher Education Department would carefully consider the suggestions and opinions shared during the interaction. He reiterated that the state government has a clear vision of developing Tripura into a leading educational hub and stressed the need for collective efforts to achieve this objective.
During the dialogue, students shared their views and recommendations on the National Education Policy (NEP), institutional challenges and other issues related to higher education. Director of Higher Education Animesh Debbarma delivered the welcome address. OSD Dr. Sandeep Chakraborty and OSD Biswajit Majumdar were also present at the programme.
