Govt to launch ‘Jagriti’ awareness programme on road safety, consumer protection
In order to spread awareness among students over consumer protection and road safety, the state government will launch a new programme ‘Jagriti’ and the mass awareness programme will be flagged off on coming January 11.
Addressing a press conference at Civil Secretariat on Saturday afternoon, Foor and Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury accompanied by officials of both departments, now in every January and February months, the Food and Transport department through their joint collaboration will organize the awareness campaign across the state and will organize quiz competition among the students of 25 degree colleges over the subjects on road safety, consumer rights and over drug menaces.
Chowdhury said that on January 11th next, the awareness programme will start with a quiz competition in participation of college students of Gomati, Sepahijala and South Tripura districts at Udaipur.
Similarly, another quiz competition will be held at Kumarghat on January 18th at Kumarghat in participation of college students of Dhalai, Unakoti and North Tripura districts and another quiz competition will be held at Agartala on January 25th next in participation of college students from West Tripura and Khowai districts, said Chowdhury.
From all these quiz competitions, the three best teams will be selected and they will participate in the final quiz competition to be held at Agartala on February 8th next, said Chowdhury.
He also said that during quiz competitions, helmets will be distributed among college students and attractive prizes will also be given to among the winners of quiz competitions with awareness rallies on road safety and consumer protections.
He said that in coming days , such quiz competitions will be extended in school levels and for implementation of ‘Jagriti’ programme, two private organizations of the state will extend their support hands with the state government.
During the press meet, the additional secretary of Transport department, Subrata Chowdhury, director of Food department Sumit Lodh were also present.
