Jal Jeevan Mission: CM stresses on expansion water connectivity in all remote villages

With priority to provide drinking water connectivity to all houses of rural Tirpura, Jal Jeevan Mission works should emphasize on getting drinking water connectivity in all remote villages of the state, said Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha.

Speaking at a review meeting over the activities of Jal Jeevan Mission, held at Civil Secretariat on Monday, Chief Minister instructed the official to give maximum efforts to provide tap water connections in all remote villages of 12aspirational blocks under Dhalai district.

Dr Saha also emphasized on speedy implementation of the central scheme and strengthened coordination among the  Drinking Water and Sanitation (DWS) department and Gram Panchayats to expedite the works. Dr Saha also instructed the officials to take concrete steps to stop wastage of drinking water and renovation of water pipelines in urban areas of the state.

During the review meeting, the secretary of DWS department  Abhishek Singh through power point presentation highlighted that at present the state has 3,241 deep tubewell, small bore deep tubewell 7,507, surface water treatment plant 59, ground water treatment plant 39, 1086 iron removal plant, 343 innovative schment, 6,52,818 domestic connections etc. He said that  a stretch of 23,350 kilometers of pipelines has been set up till date. He said that before implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission, only 24,502 families of pipe drinking water connections, which is 3.30 percent  and till December 3rd, 2023 after commissioning of Jal Jeevan Mission, altogether 5,41,900 families of state has been connected with drinking water pipelines, which is 72.61 percent. During the review meeting Chief Secretary J K Sinha along with concerned officials MD of TSECL were also present.
