The annual Durga Puja was celebrated at Dhaleshwar Ramakrishna Mission in Agartala in accordance with traditional rituals and scriptural guidelines on Monday. A special Kumari Puja was performed on the auspicious occasion of “Maha Ashtami”, drawing considerable enthusiasm and devotion from devotees.
This year, Vedantika Chakraborty, a resident of the Dhaleshwar area belonging to the Parashar gotra, was worshipped as the Kumari, symbolising the divine form of Goddess Durga. The ritual was conducted in accordance with established religious traditions and customs.
The Kumari Puja began at 9 am and continued for approximately an hour. Following the ceremony, devotees offered pushpanjali (floral offerings) and prayed at the feet of Goddess Durga, seeking happiness, peace, prosperity and well-being for all.
Speaking to the media on the occasion, Swami Amritananda Maharaj of Dhaleshwar Ramakrishna Mission explained the religious significance of Kumari Puja and highlighted various aspects of the ritual. The ceremony created a deeply devotional atmosphere across the mission premises.
Kumari Puja holds a special place in Hindu religious tradition. The ritual symbolises the manifestation of divine feminine power in a young girl, who is worshipped as a representation of the Goddess. On the sacred occasion of Maha Ashtami, devotees offer prayers through this ritual for the welfare of humanity and the well-being of the world.
