The Legal Aid Society of National Law University, Tripura organized an impactful legal awareness program at Narsingarh Higher Secondary School on Friday.
The event focused on the critical topic of compulsory education, shedding light on the Right to Education Act, its features, constitutional provisions, and societal challenges.
The NLU, Tripura through a press statement said that the program aimed to educate students, teachers, and local community members about the importance of compulsory education and the legal framework supporting it. Participants gained valuable insights into the purpose of the Right to Education Act and its significance in ensuring access to quality education for all children. Key aspects of the Right to Education Act were discussed, including the provision of free and compulsory education for children aged 6-14 years, the 25% reservation for disadvantaged groups in private schools, and the emphasis on improving infrastructure and teacher quality. The event also highlighted the constitutional provisions that underpin the right to education in India, such as Article 21A, which makes education a fundamental right. Challenges in implementing the Act were addressed, fostering a meaningful dialogue on potential solutions. Mrs. Dipika Jamatia, the faculty advisor of the Legal Aid Society, concluded the session with an inspiring speech, emphasizing the importance of education as a tool for empowerment and social progress.
