Massive security arrangements across West Tripura district for peaceful celebration of I-Day
Before the celebrations of 79th Independence Day massive security arrangements have been made across West Tripura district including strong vigil on the border for peaceful observance of the Day on Friday.
Addressing a press conference on Thursday afternoon, SP(West Tripura) Namit Pathak said that a full-proof security arrangement has been made for the capital city and other parts of West Tripura district along with the entire state.
He said though no specific security threat for Tripura, but being confronted by the security concerns in bordering areas, Tripura police is maintaining its highest alert position.
Amidst a slew of reports regarding increased infiltration activities from neighbouring country and amidst political unrest and attacks on minorities in Bangladesh, the state police are taking all measures to prevent any violence on Independence Day, while special measures have also been taken to tackle growing incidents of infiltration with strong vigil across the border by conducting joint patrolling in all bordering areas of the district.
He said that district police along with BSF has also intensified its domination and operations along the India-Bangladesh border in West Tripura district to prevent infiltration, exfiltration, and trans-border crimes including smuggling of contraband state police have also intensified its operations to identify illegal migrants including Bangladeshi and Rohingyas.
Police and BSF along with other security forces are continuously maintaining the top standard of security to contain any kind of cross border criminal activities, said Pathak.
He added that BSF has also been alerted to ensure that under-ground rebels and other miscreants do not enter Indian territory through the Tripura border with Bangladesh.
However, as normal security arrangements before the celebrations of I-Day, all police stations are now conducting raids in sensitive areas and search operations have also been intensified in some specific areas of the district during the period of the past few days.
Search operations in all busy market places, rail stations and railway tracks, bus stands, airport and hotels has been continues, said Pathak and added that police have also pressed into action dog and bomb squads in Agartala including rail stations and railway tracks and other places of the state that would continue up to peaceful observance of I-day on August 15 next.
The checking of all vehicular movements in different gates (Naka point) across the district has also been continuing for the past few days and police along with other security forces are taking constant vigil on the movements of all vehicles, said Pathak and have also intensified anti-drug, anti-liquor and anti-gambling raids.
