Miscreant involved with attack on journalist in Khowai arrested
A miscreant involved with an attack on a journalist of Dainik Sambad in Khowai district was arrested on Thursday.
Journalist Ashish Chakraborty was attacked by a miscreant known to be ruling party worker, identified as Jayanta Gope was arrested on Thursday soon after a delegation of journalists led by Pranab Sarkar met the SP of the district in a deputation.
The journalist team comprising Dipanta Majumder, Surajit Paul and Ranjit Debbarma along with Pranab Sarkar also lodged their anguish during a deputation with additional SP of the district and demanded immediate arrest of miscreant involved with attack on Ashish Chakraborty.
The report regarding the attack on a journalist of Dainik Sambad and North East Colors Asish Chakraborty has sparked serious repercussions across the state as the police remained silent spectators after the incident.
Journalist Ashish Chakraborty was attacked by a miscreant Jayanta Gope when he was attending a social programme. The miscreant was angry as the reporter is not writing against one of his party leaders belonging to his rival camp.
Two police officers also were present when the miscreant Jayanta Gope (Mitan) was assaulting the journalist. The journalist community reacted sharply over the incident and all the journalists of Khowai on Wednesday morning went to the house of the assaulted journalist to show their solidarity and registered their protest.
A delegation of Tripura Working Journalists Association led by senior journalist Ashit Baran Ghosh and Prasenjit Deb met the SDPO Rangadula Debbarma on Wednesday.
