Mother-son arrested with huge quantities of Brown Sugar from Khowai

In continuation of an anti-drug operation across the state, the Tripura police on Sunday arrested a couple along with their son with huge quantities of contraband items from Paharmura area of Khowai district.

Police sources said that based on secret information over a drug trading network run by members of a family, a team of police personnel raided Paharmura village on Sunday.

Sensing the police, the main accused identified as Pradip Chandra Singh managed to escape from his house, police detained his wife Anajan Das and their son Pratap Chandra Singh with quantities of Brown Sugar and hundreds of vials filled with Brown Sugar.

Police added that a specific case has been registered under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act 1985 and arrested mother and her son will be produced before a local court with police remand appeals.

Police also said that they have launched a manhunt to arrest main accused Pradip Chandra Singh, who was running a drug network in Paharmura area for many days.
