National Law University, Tripura extend helping hands to child, old-age homes
The Centre for Women and Childs Rights, National Law University, Tripura as a part of its community outreach programme embarked on a noble cause to spread joy and compassion among the children and elderly residents of Anwesha Child Care Home and Apna Ghar Old Age Home, Agartala on October 04-05, 2024. This heartfelt visit is to unite and spread joy as the festive season is knocking at the door. This philanthropic drive was led by Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Yogesh Pratap Singh, Dr. Debasree Debnath, Assistant Professor of Law, Centre Director, Centre for Women and Childs Rights along with other faculty members and student volunteers.
The session commenced with a welcome address by the Vice-Chancellor who mentioned about the rights of the children and nuances of old age homes. He also highlights the community’s role in supporting and nurturing the old age persons. The manager of Apnaghar Old Age Home discussed about the festivities which they celebrate in the old age home. The students and faculty members interacted with the elderly, listening to their life stories and experiences which fosters a sense of empathy and understanding and depicts the social responsibility and community engagement. The children organized a cultural event which showcased their talents, sharing yoga and dance performance.
