NCC cadets are the nation’s strength: Secretary Revenue dept of Tripura

Tripura’s Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) and Secretary of Revenue department, Brijesh Pandey on Wednesday lauded the National Cadet Corps (NCC) as not merely the eyes and ears of the nation, but as its vital assets.

His remarks came during the closing ceremony of the ten-day ‘Yuva Apada Mitra Scheme Training Camp 2025’, held at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Youth Hostel and organized by the 15 Tripura Battalion NCC in collaboration with NDMA, SDMA, and TDMA.

Pandey was joined by Director of the ARD department, Neeraj Kumar Chanchal,  Colonel KS Bajwa, Colonel Sameer Sharma, Colonel Vivekjit Singh, Officer Commanding of the 15th Tripura Battalion NCC Colonel Rohan Gupta, and other senior officials. The event saw the participation of 800 cadets from across the state.

Addressing the cadets, Pandey commended their dedication and preparedness. “There may come a time when your training will be called upon. You will rely on the skills you've acquired,” he said. “We maintain regular engagement with NCC leadership, and the training imparted through this program is of immense value. These cadets are not just assets—they represent both the NCC and the state government.”

He further emphasized the NCC’s longstanding contribution to national service. “For decades, the NCC has inspired youth to serve the country. Many cadets go on to join the armed forces, paramilitary units, or state police. Parents often wonder about future prospects, but NCC activities offer exposure to social issues that provide clarity and direction,”  Pandey noted. He cited initiatives like ‘Save the Girl Child’ as examples of the organization’s deep societal engagement, often rooted in real-life experiences. “Cadets are encouraged to stand against injustice. You are not just the eyes and ears of the system—you are its strength. We believe in your potential and trust that you will support us when needed.”

Officer Commanding Colonel Rohan Gupta shared details of the training camp. “The ‘Apada Mitra’ camp began on November 3 and will conclude on November 12. We’ve trained 800 cadets in two batches of 400 each. Upon completion, they will work with NDMA and SDMA as first responders,” he said.

Colonel Gupta added that the initiative aims to train 2.73 lakh cadets across the state. Each cadet will receive a disaster response kit worth Rs 10,000 and be enrolled for insurance coverage. “In times of emergency, these cadets will respond immediately, supporting local administrations including district magistrates,” he affirmed.
