NLU Tripura continues legal awareness through School-Connect programme
National Law University, Tripura continued its legal awareness initiative across the state under the flagship initiative, the School-Connect Programme (SCP), with the theme “Let Us Work Together for the Children of Tripura.”As part of the ongoing campaign, a session was conducted on Monday (21st July)at Kshudiram Basu English Medium School for students of classes 11 and 12.
The event was convened by the Vice-Chancellor of NLU Tripura, Prof. (Dr.) Yogesh Pratap Singh, who addressed the gathering and enlightened the students about the importance of fundamental rights and duties, while also highlighting the diverse and promising career opportunities in the legal field. He emphasized the significant role played by National Law Universities (NLUs) in shaping the legal landscape of India.
As part of the awareness session, the B.A LL.B. (Hons.), students Swarnim Shrivastava, Jiya, and Reshmi Das delivered presentations on critical and sensitive issues affecting children in Tripura, including the NDPS Act, the POCSO Act, and Child Marriage Prohibition Act. Their thought-provoking presentations sensitized the students about legal protections and children’s rights. The session was warmly received and highly appreciated by the school authorities. The Principal, Vice-Principal, and faculty members of Kshudiram Basu English Medium School attended the event and commended the initiative for its relevance and impact. The event concluded question-answer session and with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Merelin Darlong, Faculty Coordinator of the School-Connect Programme. In her address, she encouraged the students to remain informed, responsible, and inspired toward building a brighter and more just future.
