Police busted mobile snatching gang, five arrested, 35 phones recovered
The Agartala city police in a successful operation has busted a mobile snatching gang and arrested five mobile snatchers with recovery of 35 high valued mobile phones under their possessions on Thursday.
Giving details, officer-in-charge (OC) of West Agartala police station , Paritosh Das said that on last November 10th, they have received a complaint of stealing case and one Sandip Paul of Joynagar area lodged that complaint, two suspected thieves has looted his smart phone from his house in Joynagar area.
Based on the complaint, a police team started investigation and they managed to arrest two mobile snatchers identified as Binoy Saha and Litan Das and have also recovered 3 stolen mobiles under their possessions.
Later, with inputs of their confessional statements, police have also arrested three more mobile snatchers, identified as Sagar Ghosh, Sanjoy Debnath and Raju Shuladas and 32 more smart phones were also recovered from their hideouts.
Das said that all five arrested mobile snatchers were habitual drug addicts and often they snatched mobile phones from crowded areas.
He said that police has so far identified ten owners of these stolen mobiles and the process is going to identify the owners of the rest mobiles. Five snatchers were also produced before a local court with police remand appeals for further interrogation to get the details of the snatching network.
