Power Secretary's review meeting to accelerate the pace of PM Surya Ghar Mufti Bijli Yojana

The state government is now giving utmost importance to the speedy and quality completion of the work of PM Surya Ghar Mufti Bijli Yojana.
On Wednesday afternoon, the Power department's secretary, Abhishek Singh held an important review meeting with all the agencies and vendors engaged in this project at the corporate office of the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) in Agartala. The main objective is to ensure timely installation of solar panels in every consumer's house while maintaining quality.
In the meeting, the Power secretary clearly stated that the state Power department will follow a zero-tolerance policy in implementing this public welfare initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. If any agency or vendor is negligent in their work, strict action will be taken against them. He also reminded that the agencies will have to take responsibility for up to five years of the warranty period.
The agency representatives also reported some practical problems on the day. Especially in the case of bank loans, complications are arising - many banks are not sanctioning loans on time. In this context, the Secretary said that, if necessary, he himself will discuss with the senior officials of the bank. In addition, the Power Secretary said that the government will cooperate if there is any problem with the companies and vendors in bringing materials.
In the meeting, the Managing Director of TSECL, Biswajit Basu, said that this project is under my direct supervision. Negligence will not be tolerated anywhere. Officials at all levels of the Power Corporation will cooperate in this regard. Our goal is to reduce the bill of every electricity consumer in the state.
Deputy General Manager (Corporate) Shisir Debbarma presented the progress of the project in detail in the meeting. He said that so far 16,855 consumers have registered their names in this scheme across the state. Out of these, 7,365 have submitted the necessary documents and solar panels have already been installed in 1,112 houses.
Power Secretary Abhishek Singh further said that this facility should be extended to rural areas as well as urban areas. There will also be a system of rewarding agencies working in rural areas every month. In addition, a separate helpline will be launched for the agencies. It is worth noting that the center is providing a subsidy of up to Rs 85,800 under the PM Surya Ghar Mufti Bijli Yojana. As a result, ordinary electricity consumers are able to reduce their electricity bills while sitting at home—this is a practical step towards the state's energy self-sufficiency.
