Rail line waterlogged in Halflong, Kanchenjunga, Humsafar terminated in half way

After cyclonic storm ‘Remal’ hit the region and severe waterlogging caused by heavy rainfall , train services across the Northeastern region have been badly disrupted. The New Haflong-Jatinga Lampur section and Ditokcherra yard, under Lumding division of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) have been particularly affected.

Number of passenger and goods  trains have been cancelled, including the Guwahati-Silchar Express, scheduled to depart on May 29, the Sealdah-Agartala Kanchenjunga Express, set to leave on May 30, and the SMVT Bengaluru - Agartala Humsafar Express, scheduled to depart on May 31. Furthermore, Train No. 12516 (Silchar-Coimbatore Junction Express), which was scheduled to depart on May 28 at 19:15 hours, has been rescheduled to start at 08:00 hours on May 29, 2024.

In addition to full cancellations, several trains have been partially cancelled. The Agartala-Sealdah Kanchenjunga Express, which commenced its journey on May 28, will be short terminated at Dharmanagar and cancelled between Dharmanagar and Sealdah. Similarly, the Sealdah-Agartala Kanchenjunga Express, starting on May 27, will be short terminated at New Haflong, cancelling the segment between New Haflong and Agartala. The Agartala-SMVT Bengaluru Humsafar Express, starting on May 28, will end at Badarpur, with the segment between Badarpur and SMVT Bengaluru cancelled. The Lokmanya Tilak Terminus-Agartala Express, commencing on May 26, will be short terminated at Maibang, cancelling the journey between Maibang and Agartala. Lastly, the Deogarh-Agartala Express, commencing on May 27, will end at Guwahati, cancelling the segment from Guwahati to Agartala.

Passengers are advised to check the latest updates from NFR before planning their journeys. The railway authorities are diligently working to restore normal operations as swiftly as possible, prioritizing passenger safety during this period of severe weather disruption.
