Restrictions imposed at counting centre of Dharmanagar assembly by-poll
As the stage set for counting of polled votes on May 4th for the by –elections of Dharmanagar assembly constituency at the Government Girls’ Higher Secondary School in Dharmanagar, the District Magistrate (DM) of North Tripura district, also the District Election Officer has imposed Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023 with certain restrictions within a 100-metre radius of the counting centre.
As per the order, movement of all types of vehicles, including two-wheelers, is prohibited within the restricted zone. Carrying items such as sticks, rods, stones, or any objects that may be used as weapons is also banned. Additionally, the use of loudspeakers, organizing gatherings, public meetings, or rallies within the 100-metre radius has been strictly prohibited.
However, the restrictions will not apply to personnel engaged in counting duties, security forces such as TSR/Police, officials of the Election Commission of India, accredited media personnel, counting agents, and government employees on official duty.
The order will come into effect from 6 AM on May 4, 2026, and will remain in force until the completion of the counting process. Any violation of the order will invite penal action under Section 223 of the BNSS, 2023.
