Security forces strike gold with massive drug haul in Tripura, seized Yaba tablets worth Rs. 78 Cr

In a meticulously planned and flawlessly executed joint operation, the Assam Rifles, in coordination with the Customs Department and Tripura Police, has dealt a major blow to the drug trafficking nexus in the region. Acting on precise intelligence inputs from their own sources, security forces intercepted and recovered an astonishing consignment of 3.9 lakh Yaba tablets valued at approximately Rs. 78 crore in the international market.

Official sources said that the operation unfolded near general areas of  Gandacherra, approximately 35 kilometers from Teliamura,  and on Friday evening  in a swift and decisive move, the team apprehended Rakesh Miah (33), son of Manik Miah from Melaghar  under Sepahijala district  who was transporting the consignment.

This monumental success highlights the unwavering commitment of the security forces to counter the menace of cross-border drug trafficking and safeguard the youth of the region. Yaba tablets, infamous for their devastating effects on individuals and communities, are a known favorite of drug syndicates targeting vulnerable populations.

The operation, which concluded, has sent a resounding message to criminal networks operating in the region. With the Union Home Minister visiting the state and security forces on high alert, this accomplishment showcases the synergy and vigilance of Assam Rifles, Customs, and Tripura Police in combating organized crime.
