Sensational murder of youth for love triangle: All six accused sent to police custody for 3 days
All six accused involved in brutal killing of a youth for love triangle were sent for three days police custody by the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) of West Tripura district on Thursday.
The Agartala city police on Wednesday arrested six persons for killing a youth at Indranagar area and recovered his body from a deep refrigerator from Gandacherra under Dhalai district.
During the production of all six accused before a court in Agartala, local people from Indranagar areas staged massive protests in the court complex demanding stringent punishment of all accused persons.
A youth, Sariful Islam (24) of South Indranagar area under New Capital Complex (NCC) police station of Agartala, arrested six criminals including two women killed him on June 8 at 9.30 PM at South Indranagar area of Agartala at the house of Joydip Das and the body was recovered three days later on June 11 from a deep fridge in Gandacherra area of Dhalai district.
Government advocate, Dilip Debnath giving details of the incident said that the brutal murder was committed by one doctor , identified as Dr Dibakar Saha (29) for a love triangle.
He said that the victim, 24-years old Sariful Islam—an electrician working under the Agartala Smart City Project was murdered on the night of June 8.
He added that on June 8th night, since 9 PM, deceased youth Sariful was missing and his father, Jahangir Miah found his mobile phone switched off at 12 AM of the same night, then he lodged a missing complaint at NCC police station.
Later, police also recovered his motorbike from Khabarkhela area of Indranagar and during swift investigation; police unearthed the murder mystery and arrested all six accused persons.
Debnath added that the Investigation Officer (IO) on Thursday produced them before the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) of West Tripura district with three days police remand and after hearing both prosecution and defense team, the court sent all accused for three days police custody for interrogation.
It may be recalled here that Dr. Dibakar Saha (29), who completed his MBBS from Bangladesh, called Sariful to his residence in the South Indranagar area of Agartala to hand over him a gift. When Sariful arrived at the spot at about 9.30 PM of June 8th , he found three other individuals present at that spot, identified as Animesh Yadav (21), Nabanit Das (25), and Jaydeep Das (20).
Debnath added that as per police’s preliminary investigation, the group had pre-planned the murder.
He said that Sariful was in a relationship with a girl who is the cousin of Dr. Dibakar Saha. Dibakar reportedly also developed love affairs with that same girl , which led to growing tensions between the two men.
“Driven by jealousy and resentment, Dr Dibakar allegedly conspired to eliminate his romantic rival. Sariful was strangled to death by the group. His body was then stuffed into a trolley bag and shifted to another house belonging to Jaydeep Das.
On June 9, Dibakar’s parents—Dipak Saha (52) and Debika Saha—arrived from Gandacherra with a vehicle. In a shocking turn of events, they allegedly helped transport the body, which had been stored in a refrigerator, to Gandacherra in an attempt to dispose of it discreetly, said Debnath.
The police later recovered the body and arrested all six accused Dr. Dibakar Saha, the three accomplices, and his parents.
Debnath also said that a police investigation is going on and hopefully during three days of interrogation, police will unearth the entire mystery of the murder.
