A special disaster management mock drill was conducted on Monday afternoon at the Umakanta Academy Ground in Agartala under the initiative of the Sadar Sub-Divisional Administration of West Tripura district.

The exercise was organized to strengthen preparedness for natural disasters by ensuring swift and effective rescue operations, minimizing damage, and safeguarding the lives of citizens during emergencies. Officials from various government departments, disaster response teams, fire and emergency services personnel, healthcare workers, and volunteers participated in the drill.

During the mock exercise, realistic demonstrations were carried out to showcase how rescue operations would be conducted during emergencies such as earthquakes, fires, and other disaster situations. Participants demonstrated procedures for evacuating injured persons to safe locations, providing first aid, and delivering essential relief materials in a timely manner.

Officials present at the event emphasized the importance of coordinated action among different agencies during disasters to ensure an effective response and minimize risks to the public.

Speaking on the occasion, Sadar Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Manik Lal Das elaborated on various aspects of the mock drill and highlighted the significance of disaster preparedness and inter-agency coordination in emergency situations.
