Sports, physical exercise vital for youth’s health, discipline, and patriotism: CM
Chief Minister Prof. Dr Manik Saha on Friday emphasized the significant role of sports in fostering discipline and patriotism among the youth.
“There is no substitute for exercise and sports to maintain good health. Sports not only help protect young people from the dangers of drug addiction but also instill a strong sense of discipline and patriotism,” Dr Saha said.
The Chief Minister said this after inaugurating the Kasbeswari football tournament and an indoor gym at the Madhupur H/S School Ground on Friday.
He added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has consistently emphasized the importance of youth empowerment, highlighting that youth power is essential for the nation.
“Youth should be strengthened not only physically but also mentally. This can be achieved through constant involvement in sports. Tripura has made a name for itself in the field of sports, and the government has taken various initiatives to develop sports infrastructure. Seven synthetic football fields have been constructed across the state. It’s a pleasure to be part of this tournament today, with provisions for both day and night matches in place,” he said.
Dr. Saha further stressed that youth engagement in sports is crucial for creating a drug-free Tripura and a drug-free India.
The event was attended by MP Rajib Bhattacharya, Sepahijala Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Supriya Das Dutta, MLA Antara Sarkar Deb, MLA Sushanta Deb, District Magistrate Siddharth Shiv Jaiswal, Superintendent of Police J.B. Reddy, and other prominent personalities.
