Stolen gold jewellery from SDM (Amarpur) house recovered within 24 hours, two arrested
In a swift and efficient operation, the police personnel of Birganj police station of Amarpur under Gomati district recovered stolen gold jewellery within 24 hours of the theft. The incident took place on Wednesday morning at a house in the Thalacherra area under the same police station.
The house where the theft committed belongs to the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Karbook subdivision. Gold jewellery belonging to his wife was stolen from the house. The SDM alleged that his own nephew was involved in committing with the stolen incident.
After receiving the complaint, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Birganj police station , Shukramani Debbarma and Sub-Divisional Police Office (SDPO) Nirman Das immediately launched an investigation. During the operation, police detained a youth identified as Prahar Jamatia.
During interrogation, Prahar Jamatia confessed that he had sold the stolen gold ornaments at a shop, Kaushik Jewellery in Amarpur market for Rs. 2.5 lakh. Based on his statement, the police recovered the stolen ornaments from the jewellery shop and also detained one person present there, who was later brought to police station for further questioning.
The SDPO (Amarpur) Nirman Das confirmed the recovery and detention and stated that further investigation in the case is going on.
