Technology can revolutionize Journalism: CM
Chief Minister Prof. DrManik Saha on Wednesday said that it is possible to bring about a huge change in journalism by using technology.
On the occasion of World Sports Journalists Day, a one-day workshop was held at Agartala Press Club for sports journalists, which was inaugurated by Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha, about 50 sports journalists from the state participated in the workshop.
Inaugurating the workshop, Dr Saha said that skill development is very necessary to achieve maximum success in any profession.
“Keeping that in mind, such skill development workshops are timely. It is possible to bring about a huge change in journalism today by using technology. If there is goodwill, it is possible to overcome any obstacle and succeed. But in that case, the right direction is also needed,” said Dr Saha. It is worth noting that this workshop was organized by the Tripura Sports Journalists Club. The Department of Information and Cultural Affairs supported it and eminent sports journalist Gautam Bhattacharya of Kolkata will train the sports journalists participating in the workshop. On behalf of the organizers, the Chief Minister welcomed Gautam Bhattacharya.
While discussing sports journalism, the Chief Minister further said that to present various technical aspects of the game in a simple manner to the general public, journalists need to have comprehensive knowledge about that game.
“In that case, such skill development workshops can play a helpful role. There is no end to people's knowledge, so there must be a desire to know,” he said.
At the workshop, Dr Saha reminisced about badminton, cross-country running, football, etc., in his life.
The Chief Minister called for special emphasis on starting tele-journalism based on the needs of journalists.
Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Tinku Roy, Secretary of Information and Cultural Affairs (ICA) department, Dr P K Chakraborty, Director of the department, Bimbiwar Bhattacharjee and Agartala Press Club President Pranab Sarkar along with other dignitaries were present in the programme.
