Thief in JNV-Belonia, caught red-handed, lynched to death
A thief, who attempted robbery at Jahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) was allegedly lynched to death in the wee hours of Monday after he caught in red-handed.
Police sources said that an accused thief met a tragic end while attempting theft at JNV at Bash Paduya area of Belonia under South Tripura district, when he was caught red-handed and faced a brutal mob lynching.
Accused thief was identified as Babul Miah( 35) and a resident of Muzaffar Colony of Belonia.
After the incident was reported, police rushed to the spot on Monday morning and shifted Babul Miah to a local hospital, where a visiting doctor declared him dead.
Upon hearing the news, Babul Miah's family arrived at the hospital, breaking down in tears. Reports suggest that Babul Miah climbed over the school wall to steal but was caught in the act. The enraged locals tied him up and severely beat him.
Sources revealed that Babul Miah had multiple criminal cases registered against him at Belonia police station. The police have started an investigation into the incident.
