Three Bangladeshi girls including two minor arrested from Dharmanagar Railway station

Three more Bangladeshi girls including two minors were arrested by police, who were moving suspiciously at Dharmanagar Railway station on Tuesday morning.

Police sources said that a specific case has been registered against them, and a detailed investigation is underway.

Giving details, Sitikanta Bardhan, OC of Dharmanagar police station said that these girls crossed into India from Bangladesh last Saturday and in the Monday evening, a tout  reportedly arranged for their transport to Dharmanagar and handed them an address written on a piece of paper. Following the directions, the girls reached the Dharmanagar Rail station, where their presence raised suspicion among local residents.

Police noticed their suspected movements and detained the girls. A search revealed they were in possession of three fake Aadhaar cards.

During questioning, it was discovered that one of the minors was in a romantic relationship with a man from Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal. The girl reportedly entered India with plans to marry the young man and brought two other minors from her locality along with her, said police.

Police added that they are investigating the involvement of touts who facilitate such illegal crossings and forwarded them before a local court for further legal proceedings.
