Three members of a thief gang arrested by city police with stolen items
The Agartala city police on Tuesday arrested three members of a thief gang involved in many stolen incidents and have also recovered stolen items under their possessions.
Giving details during a media briefing at West Agartala police station, SDPO (Sadar) Debaprasad Roy said that a new gang of thieves on August 22 nigh raided at a grocery shop of one Amalesh Dutta at Ramnagar-4 and looted all valuable items including large quantities of cigarettes of different brands.
Based on the complaint of the shop owner, police managed to identify a new gang of thieves and have arrested three members of the gang, identified as Goutam Sarkar, Pritam Shil and Raju Biswas from bordering Rajnagar and Joypur areas.
SDPO said that police have also recovered all items stolen from that grocery shop including large quantities of cigarettes, copper wire and other items worth about Rs. 2 lakh.
He said that few members of the gang are still beyond the clutches of police, who often move in different city roads with an e-rickshaw to commit crimes.
All arrested three thieves will be produced before a local court with police remand appeals and SDPO hopes that soon other gang members of the thief will be arrested.
