Tripura first among NE states in implementing scheme to promote solar energy use in agricultural sector
Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Friday said the state has secured the first position among the Northeastern states in implementing the PM-KUSUM scheme, a programme to promote solar energy use in the agricultural sector.
Dr Saha in a social media post said that “A shining example of sustainable progress! Tripura has secured the 1st position among all North Eastern States in implementing the PM-KUSUM Scheme. Today, Hon’ble Minister Shri Ratan Lal Nath Ji received the prestigious award from Hon’ble Union Minister for Renewable Energy, Shri Pralhad Joshi ji, during the Regional Workshop. This recognition reflects our Government’s unwavering commitment to promoting clean energy, rural empowerment, and sustainable development in Tripura.”
Dr Saha expressed happiness over the state’s achievement and said the recognition reflects his government’s commitment to promoting clean energy, rural empowerment, and sustainable development.
The PM KUSUM scheme is being implemented by Tripura Renewable Energy Development Authority (TREDA), a state government enterprise, to provide solar pumps to farmers.
Under this scheme, eligible farmers can receive highly subsidized solar pumps to replace those run by diesel, and this transformation can reduce irrigation costs and pollution while increasing income.
Along with Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath , Power Secretary Abhishek Singh and TREDA's Joint Director Debasish Sukladas were present during the programme.
