The Tripura Guerrilla Returned Demand Committee has withdrawn its proposed indefinite blockade of the Assam–Agartala National Highway (NH-8) and railway line, which was scheduled to begin on June 5.

The decision was taken following a meeting between the organization's representatives and Minister Bikash Debbarma on Wednesday. After the meeting, both the minister and the committee leaders jointly announced the withdrawal of the blockade programme.

According to the organization, constructive discussions were held with the government regarding their various demands. The committee decided to suspend its agitation after receiving assurances that the issues raised would be given due consideration.

The withdrawal of the blockade has brought relief to passengers, transport workers, and the business community, as the proposed protest was expected to significantly disrupt road and rail connectivity between Tripura and the rest of the country.
