Tripura journalist Dr Bishwendu Bhattacharjee to attend 30th World Climate Summit in Brazil as part of Indian delegation

Senior journalist and environmental activist Dr. Bishwendu Bhattacharjee from Tripura will participate as a member of the Indian delegation at the 30th World Climate Conference to be held in Brazil from November 10.
The 12-day 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30) will take place in Belém, Brazil, from November 10, bringing together global leaders, scientists, and activists to deliberate on strategies to combat climate change and promote sustainable development.
In order to cover the proceedings of this international climate conference, the United Nations has invited a total of eight journalists from India to Belém. Dr Bhattacharjee will attend the conference as the representative of the news agency UNI.
This year, representatives from nearly two hundred large and small countries will discuss and frame policies on “International Support for Addressing Problems Arising from Climate Change.”
In addition to Belém in Brazil, some sessions of the conference will also be held in parts of France. Along with reporting on the conference, Dr Bhattacharjee will also speak on citizen-led initiatives to combat climate change in Central Asia.
Last year as well, he participated in the 29th World Climate Conference held in Azerbaijan as part of India’s delegation. In addition to his journalism career, Dr. Bhattacharjee has been working as an environmental activist in Tripura and the wider Northeastern region of India for more than two decades.
