The Tripura government has taken a major step towards strengthening the state’s startup and innovation ecosystem with the launch of the T-RISE (Tripura Registry & Integration for Startup Ecosystem) Portal.
The portal was formally launched during a workshop titled “Building a Unicorn in Tripura”, held at Pragya Bhavan in Agartala. The full-day programme was organised by the Directorate of Information Technology, Government of Tripura, in collaboration with Hyderabad-based startup innovation platform T-Hub.
The workshop focused on providing young entrepreneurs in Tripura with the necessary support, mentorship and opportunities to build high-growth and globally competitive businesses.
Information Technology, Finance, Planning and Coordination Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, along with senior government officials, industrialists, investors, startup founders and representatives from the academic sector, attended the programme.
The state government has introduced a new Sector-Agnostic Tripura Startup Policy aimed at promoting startups, innovation, employment generation and investment across different sectors. In addition, a state-level incubation centre named T-NEST has been established at the International Business Centre in Hapania.
According to government data, more than 185 applications have already been received since the launch of the new startup policy. Of these, 140 registrations have been approved, while 70 startups have received official recognition. Financial assistance amounting to ₹2.72 crore has already been provided to entrepreneurs.
The newly launched T-RISE portal will bring startups, entrepreneurs, incubators, mentors, investors and government departments together on a single digital platform. The portal will provide access to more than 20 mentors and over 10 investors, besides corporate organisations, incubators and sector-specific experts.
Strategic Memoranda of Understanding have also been signed with HDFC Bank, Amazon Seller Services and Zoho Corporation to support startups. Through these partnerships, entrepreneurs will have access to financial services, e-commerce support, export opportunities, cloud technology, technical consultancy and training.
During the workshop, experts from T-Hub conducted sessions on innovation management, business expansion, fundraising and market expansion. Representatives of Skyroot Aerospace also shared their experiences and insights on building a successful startup.
The government said the initiative is expected to create a future-ready, innovation-driven and robust startup ecosystem in Tripura. It is also expected to attract fresh investment, generate new employment opportunities for young people and position Tripura as one of the emerging startup destinations in eastern India.
