Tripura Sundari temple project to complete by Jan-25, Sushanta Chowdhury
With an aimed to expedite ongoing projects and outline future strategies to elevate the tourism sector to new heights, Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury chaired a review meeting of the Tripura Tourism Development Corporation Limited (TTDCL) on Saturday at Gitanjali State Tourism Guest House.
In a media interaction following the meeting, Minister Chowdhury provided updates on the Tripura Sundari Temple, one of the state’s most revered religious sites. According to the minister, the construction agency responsible for the temple has committed to handing over the completed project to the state government by the end of January 2025. If all goes as scheduled, the temple will welcome devotees from across the country in early February, Chowdhury confirmed.
He highlighted that the restoration of the Tripura Sundari Temple is being funded through a combination of state and central resources, with substantial support from the Centre under the PRASAD (Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spirituality Augmentation Drive) scheme. Chowdhury expressed confidence in the progress, noting that the project is advancing on track.
Alongside Minister Chowdhury , Uttam Kumar Chakma, Secretary of the Tourism Department, and Prashant Badal Negi, Director of Tourism and other senior officials were present in the meeting. Director Prashant Badal Negi stated that the key focus of the meeting was to review the progress reports of ongoing tourism projects and discuss strategies for enhancing Tripura's appeal as a travel destination. He highlighted the importance of consistent monitoring, with monthly updates set to help maintain progress and address any bottlenecks in real-time.
According to sources within the department, the ministry is keen on implementing a range of initiatives to support local tourism and position Tripura as a prominent destination on the national and international stage.
The meeting concluded with the Tourism Minister emphasizing the commitment of the government towards creating a more vibrant and resilient tourism sector, one capable of driving economic growth and creating employment opportunities for the people of Tripura.
