Two Bangladeshi arrested from bordering Joynagar area of Agartala
Amidst continuous joint patrolling by BSF and Tripura police in stretches of Indo-Bangla border due to unrest in Bangladesh, two more citizens of the neighbouring country were arrested from a bordering area of Agartala, who were moving in that area suspiciously in the Friday midnight.
Giving details, officer-in-charge (OC) West Agartala police station , Rana Chattarejee said that during the routine patrolling of BSF jawans of 42 battalion in the bordering Joynagar area under the same police, the BSF jawans moved to another spot of Joynagar, just near the Indo-Bangla border area after they received a specific intelligence input.
Based on the secret information, jawans noticed the suspected movements of two persons and immediately detained them.
Chatterjee said that in the same night, BSF handed over them to police after preliminary interrogation and during interrogation, two arrested persons revealed their actual identity and were identified as Jahangir Miah and Hridoy Sarkar of Brahmanbaria district of Bangladesh.
During their interrogation they stated that they were entered into India through Akahuar border, said OC and added that on Saturday both arrested Bangladeshi were produced before a local court with police remand appeals under the Foreigner Act-1946 & U/S- 03 of IPP Act ( Entry into India Amendment-2000) for further interrogation..
The infiltration into the Northeastern states especially in Tripura and Assam has continued for Bangladesh and in the last few months hundreds of Bangladesh nationals along with Rohingyas were arrested by security forces from different borders of the state.
After a brief half, especially after operation ‘Sindoor’, the infiltration was almost stopped due tight security in the entire stretch of border, but during the past months dozens of Bangladeshi along with a tout were arrested from different parts of the state.
