Two Bangladeshi nationals, including a woman, were arrested from the Tilabazar area of Kailashahar under Unakoti district on Sunday on suspicion of illegal infiltration and possession of forged Indian documents.

According to police sources, the detainees initially claimed to be residents of Halair Par village in Kailashahar. However, during verification and sustained questioning, they allegedly admitted that they hail from Sunamganj district of Bangladesh.

An Indian PAN card, suspected to have been obtained illegally, was recovered from their possession. The detained youth has been identified as Roman Das, while the woman, introduced as his mother, has been identified as Seful Das.

Local residents of Halair Par village confirmed that the individuals and their family had been living in the area and were known to have migrated from Bangladesh earlier.

Police suspect the involvement of a larger network in the matter. An auto-rickshaw driver is currently being questioned in connection with the case. Investigations are also underway to ascertain how the Indian PAN card was allegedly procured and whether more individuals are involved in facilitating illegal documentation. Further investigation is in progress.
