Two more Bangladeshi with 2 traffickers arrested from Dharmanagar ISBT

Amidst tight security along the India-Bangladesh border, the infiltration from the unrest that hit Bangladesh into Tripura continued and again on Thursday two more citizens of the neighbouring country were arrested by BSF from Inter-State Bus Terminus (ISBT), Dharmanagar of North Tripura district along with two Indian traffickers.

BSF sources said that intelligence inputs, a team of BSF jawans of 199th battalion posted at North Tripura district raided at ISBT, Dharmanagar and detained two Bangladesh nationals, identified as Mohammad Nur (22) and Mohammad Alamin Haoyladar (24) of Khulna district of Bangladesh.

BSF has also detained two Indian traffickers from the same spot, identified as Swapan Goyala (46) of Kailashahar, Unakoti district and Bidhan Deb (25) of Unakoti district, who were actively involved with infiltration of two Bangladeshi nationals.

The Bangladeshi citizens confessed during questioning that they had plans to go to Kolkata through surface transport and from there further to  Chennai for jobs.

Later, BSF handed over them to Dharmanagar police  and they has registered a specific case under sections of the Passports Act, the Foreigners Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and both arrested foreigners and two Indian touts were produced before a local court on Thursday  for further legal proceedings.

After unrest in Bangladesh, the infiltration into the Northeastern states especially in Tripura and Assam has continued and in the last few months hundreds of Bangladesh nationals along with Rohingyas were arrested by security forces from different borders of the state.

During the past one month, dozens of Bangladeshis, Rohingyas and human traffickers (Touts) were arrested from different parts of the state by security forces including from Agartala Railway station.

A BSF spokesman said that the para-military troops have enhanced vigil and intensified its domination along the International Border since the violence in Bangladesh began in June-July last year, specially after the fall of the former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina-led Awami League government on August 5, 2024.
