Unakoti district hospital performed successful cesarean delivery to a HIV positive

In a successful operation, the doctors of the Unakoti district performed a Cesarean delivery to a HIV-positive pregnant woman.

According to the doctor's statement, the woman was admitted to the hospital on Monday evening with labor pain and she was found to be HIV positive during a routine examination.

Despite the challenges posed by the patient's condition, the hospital's medical team decided to proceed with the delivery at the facility itself. This decision was made after considering the urgency of the situation and the potential risks associated with transferring the patient to another hospital.

"We were prepared to handle this situation, we had all the necessary equipment and a dedicated team to ensure the safety of both the mother and the baby," said Dr. Sumit Das, the obstetrician and gynecologist who led the surgery.

A complete separate safety kit including surgical instruments was used during the procedure to minimize the risk of transmission. The surgery was performed under the supervision of Dr. Rupamoy Das, the anesthesiologist and a team of nurses and technicians.

The woman delivered a healthy baby at around 1 pm on Tuesday. Both the mother and the child are reported to be in good health.

This successful delivery marks a significant achievement for the Unakoti District Hospital, demonstrating its commitment to providing quality healthcare services even in challenging circumstances.
