Woman smuggler with drug selling team arrested, large quantities of Brown Sugar recovered
In a successful operation, Agartala city police have arrested a woman drug smuggler with four more peddlers, who was a kingpin for supplying drugs to many peddlers across the city and seized huge quantities of Brown Sugar and cash under their possessions.
Giving details SDPO(Sadar) Debaprasad Roy said that based on secret information, a contingent of police personnel led by OC East Agartala police station, Rana Chatterjee raided at Golap Bagan area of the city, where some peddlers on regular basis selling drugs to youths.
During the raid, a police team managed to arrest four drug peddlers, identified as Rajesh Debnath, Biswajit Majumder, Joydeb Das and Usman Miah and recovered four packets of Brown Sugar , weighing 36 grams under their possessions, said Roy.
He said that based on the interrogation statement of all arrested peddlers, police arrested their leader, Uma Malakar, a kingpin of drug smuggling, who has running a tea stall in the city and with help of her tea selling business, she spread her drug selling network in different parts the city through different peddlers.
Police have recovered a total of 95 vials filled with Brown Sugar and a cash amount of Rs. 16,000 under her possession.
Roy said all arrested drug smugglers were produced before a local court with police remand appeals in a specific case under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act 1985.
He hoped that during interrogation, police would be able to get details of their drug selling network and their sources for procuring drugs.
