Youth detained for uploading personal photos and videos
Teliamura Police of Khowai district on Saturday arrested a suspected man in connection with the circulation of objectionable photos and videos of young women and housewives, which have gone viral on social media, causing outrage in the area.
The tension emerged from a computer shop called "Studio Supreme" located in the Ampi Chowmuhani area. Local residents allege that Nirmal Sutradhar, an employee at the shop, took advantage of his position to secretly save personal, private photos from customers' mobile phones. These photos, many of which were explicit, were later used for blackmail and circulated on social media, leading to widespread public concern.
When a victim’s family discovered that her photos had been shared online, they promptly reported the incident to the Teliamura Police Station. The authorities initiated an investigation and within a short period, a group of local youths, along with the victim’s family, managed to identify Sutradhar as the main culprit. With the help of a computer expert, they searched his computer and recovered the incriminating photos.
Meanwhile, the police took him into custody. Officer-In-Charge Rajib Debnath confirmed the detention of the suspected man but no complaint was registered yet.
