Authorities are now making efforts to arrest others allegedly involved in the incident, which officials described as illegal.
Chaman Deputy Commissioner Habib Bangulzai confirmed to Dawn that the girl’s father, identified as Abdul Bari, had been arrested.
Bangulzai said the district administration was in contact with Quetta police for the registration of an FIR and to hand over the arrested suspect to Quetta police.
“Police are also investigating the murder of a 15-year-old girl whose body was found in Kuchlak a few days ago,” Bangulzai said, adding that the killing was being linked to the minor girl’s alleged marriage.
He said police were making efforts to arrest the main suspect allegedly involved in the girl’s killing.
