Amid the adverse weather conditions, Gurugram authorities have advised corporate offices, government and private schools, and other institutions to facilitate work-from-home and online classes.

Gurugram Deputy Commissioner said in a post on X that heavy rainfall on August 24 could lead to waterlogging and traffic congestion at several locations across the district.

“In view of the heavy rainfall in Gurugram on 24 August 2026, there is a possibility of waterlogging and traffic congestion at various locations across the district,” the official said.

“All corporate offices, government and private schools/institutions are advised to guide their employees/staff to work from home on 25 August 2026,” the advisory added.

The administration said the measure would help reduce traffic congestion and facilitate repair and maintenance work on roads and drains by civic agencies.

According to reports, heavy rainfall also slowed traffic on the Delhi-Jaipur Expressway, with waterlogging reported at several locations.

Meanwhile, several flights operating from Delhi airport were diverted on Monday as heavy rain and thunderstorms affected air traffic across the Delhi-NCR region.

Airlines advised passengers to check live flight updates before leaving for the airport and allow additional travel time due to potentially difficult road conditions.

IndiGo said on X: “Bad weather over #Delhi has impacted flight schedules. We are closely monitoring the weather and doing our best to get you where you need to be, safely and smoothly.”

“If you're travelling today, we recommend checking your flight status on our website or app before leaving for the airport. Please also allow for additional travel time, as road conditions may be slower than usual,” the airline said.

Air India also advised passengers to check the latest flight status before heading to the airport to avoid inconvenience.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast further rainfall in the Delhi-NCR region over the coming hours.

According to the IMD, Delhi is likely to experience generally cloudy skies, with spells of very light to light rain at many places from morning to noon, followed by another spell of light rain from afternoon to evening.

The weather department said the maximum temperature is expected to remain between 34°C and 36°C, while the minimum temperature is likely to range between 25°C and 27°C.
