Back from Bhutan, PM Modi visits Delhi hospital to meet Red Fort blast victims, vows to hunt down conspirators!”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday visited the LNJP Hospital in Delhi to meet victims of the Red Fort blast that left at least nine people dead and over twenty injured.
Modi arrived at the hospital soon after returning from his state visit to Bhutan.
“Went to LNJP Hospital and met those injured during the blast in Delhi. Praying for everyone’s quick recovery. Those behind the conspiracy will be brought to justice,” the Prime Minister posted on X, sharing images from his visit.
The Delhi Police on Wednesday registered a First Information Report (FIR) classifying the explosion near Red Fort as a “terror attack”, The Times of India reported. The case has been filed under relevant sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
Preliminary investigations suggest the blast was orchestrated by a Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) module to avenge the damage to its Bahawalpur headquarters during Operation Sindoor, the report added.
The explosion occurred around 6:52 pm on Monday near Gate No. 1 of Lal Qila Metro Station, close to the Gauri Shankar and Jain temples. A Hyundai i20 car carrying three passengers reportedly exploded, triggering panic in the high-security Old Delhi area.
Forensic experts have collected more than 40 samples from the site, including live cartridges and traces of two different explosives — one believed to be ammonium nitrate and another of higher potency.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken over the probe from Delhi Police, confirming that the incident is being treated as a major terror-linked case.
