Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par maintains strong run in box office, nears Rs. 200-cr mark worldwide
Mumbai/IBNS: After nearly a decade, Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan is roaring in the box office, courtesy his latest flick Sitaare Zameen Par.
After a slow start, the film maintained a steady run in the box office and finished the second weekend on June 29 strongly.
According to Sacnilk, the film earned approximately Rs. 33.50 crore in the second weekend taking the overall domestic collection to Rs. 122 crore.
The overall collection of the film worldwide now nears 200 crore.
A sports comedy drama, Sitaare Zameen Par revolves around a suspended basketball coach who does community service by helping a team of players with disabilities to prepare for a tournament.
Directed by R.S. Prasanna, the film features Genelia Deshmukh in a key role.
The Aamir Khan Productions film, which is a spiritual successor to Aamir's 2007 film Taare Zameen Par, released on June 20.
Sitaare Zameen Par, which is the remake of 2018 Spanish film Champions, is the first film since Aamir tasted success in the box office in 2016 with Dangal.
