Alia Bhatt's former personal assistant arrested for cheating actress of Rs. 76.9 lakh
Mumbai/IBNS: Bollywood star Alia Bhatt's former personal assistant Vedika Prakash Shetty has been arrested for allegedly cheating the actress and her production company, Eternal Sunshine Productions Pvt. Ltd, media reports said.
The Juhu Police arrested Vedika for allegedly defrauding Rs. 76.9 lakh from Eternal Sunshine Productions Pvt. Ltd and Alia's accounts.
The 32-year-old worked as Alia's personal assistant from 2021 to 2024 and during that phase, she handled the leading Bollywood actress' financial documents and payments.
As per reports, Vedika got Alia's signatures on fake bills and siphoned off the money.
Vedika told the actress that the money was needed for travel, meetings and other activities. She used to transfer the amount to her friend's account who then channeled it back to Vedika's account.
The police complaint was lodged by Alia's mother, actress Soni Razdan, on January 23.
Vedika since then was on the run and kept changing her locations and ultimately she was tracked down by police in Bengaluru.
She was arrested by the Juhu Police in the capital city of Karnataka and was brought to Mumbai on a transit demand.
On the work front, Alia was last seen in Jigra, which is one of the rare box office failures in the actress' career.
Alia and Ranbir will feature together for the second time on-screen after Brahmastra, courtesy Sanjay Leela Bhansali's next Love & War which also features new acting sensation Vicky Kaushal in the lead.
Love & War also gave an opportunity to Alia and Vicky to reunite on-screen years after they delivered the successful film, Raazi.
She will also feature in Alpha which stars Sharvari as the co-lead.
