Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2: The Rule crosses Rs. 1,000 crore in box office
Hyderabad/IBNS: Telugu superstar Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2: The Rule became the second Indian film to cross the Rs. 1,000-crore mark in the domestic box office.
Pushpa 2, which is now just behind Baahubali 2, is on its way to become the highest grossing film in India.
In a surprise, Pushpa 2 has grossed a bigger amount of money in Hindi than in Telugu, the original language.
The film has also emerged as the highest grossing film in Hindi surpassing Rajkummar Rao-Shraddha Kapoor's Stree 2 and Shah Rukh Khan's 2023 release, Jawan.
Directed by Sukumar, Pushpa 2: The Rule is the sequel to the 2021 film Pushpa: The Rise.
The second installment features Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil in the lead alongside Allu Arjun.
The film, which released on big screens on December 4, was marred with controversy after a fan of Allu Arjun was killed in a stampede during the premiere show in Hyderabad's Sandhya Theatre.
After a complaint was lodged against Allu Arjun, the actor was arrested leading several film personalities slamming the police's move to hold one person responsible behind the incident.
However, Allu Arjun was later granted bail.
