Anurag Kashyap quits 'toxic' Bollywood, says 'everyone is chasing unrealistic targets'
Mumbai/IBNS: Senior Hindi filmmaker-actor Anurag Kashyap has confirmed that he has quit making movies in the Hindi film industry or Bollywood, media reports said.
Anurag said in a recent interview with The Hindu that it has become tough for him to work in an industry where makers are solely aiming for profits.
"I’ve left Mumbai," the filmmaker said and added, "I want to stay away from film people. The industry has become too toxic. Everyone is chasing unrealistic targets, trying to make the next Rs 500 or Rs 800 crore film. The creative atmosphere is gone."
Anurag has likely moved to Bengaluru and is keen to make films in South Indian languages, reports claim.
Earlier, in an interaction, Anurag had opened up on whether he cares about box office collections or not.
"I care about the producer recovering his/her money (laughs). I don't care about anything else. When my producer recovers his/her invested money, I am sure of doing my next film (laughs)," the filmmaker had said speaking on box office collections.
Anurag had last directed Kennedy, which starred Rahul Bhat and Sunny Leone in the lead. The film was screened at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival.
As an actor, his Malayalam film Footage released in Hindi in cinemas on March 7.
Anurag will next feature as a cop in Dacoit, which will be released in Hindi and Telugu.
