'Mere Husband Ki Biwi addresses complication in relationship with humour'
Bollywood actors Arjun Kapoor, Rakul Preet Singh and Bhumi Pednekar teamed up for Mudassar Aziz's Mere Husband Ki Biwi, which released on big screens on February 21. IBNS-TWF writer Souvik Ghosh brings the three actors' comments on the film...
Q (to all): How do you view the kind of relationship shown in this film?
A. (Arjun): Life is very complicated. It can't be simplified, perhaps saying that a film can influence one's equations in life. One can derive a thought from the film or empathise with a character. For me, my character Ankur gravitates into a situation. I am sure we all have been in moments like this in life somehow when things get complicated in a relationship.
Arjun Kapoor
We have executed things in this film with humour. So the audience can go back home thinking about something that one can relate to. It's real life with an actual amount of humour. I just feel personally that life happens to be intense and sometimes we have to look at relationships from a slightly more happy space and take something out of it. This is how I see it.
(Rakul): The audience will understand when they watch the film. It's a situation where one gets trapped in life and all of us have been through situations like that and how we create humour and get out of those situations.
(Bhumi): I think what I have learnt from this film is that sometimes we disturb a beautiful relationship due to our ego. I personally believe ego should have no place in love.
Rakul Preet Singh
Q (to Arjun): What are your plans for marriage in real life?
A. I will let everyone know when I get married. I have allowed enough conversation and chatter whenever I have been comfortable and when the time is right, I will have no hesitation in sharing it. People are aware of how I am as a person. For now, let me celebrate Mere Husband Ki Biwi. I will talk regarding my personal life when the appropriate time arrives. (smiles).
Q (to Bhumi): Can we say Bhumi is the new generation Biwi No. 1 like Karisma Kapoor?
A. I think, yes. I have watched all these films while growing up. I used to get inspired by all these actresses for the manner in which they used to work. Female actors do not get much opportunity to do comedy in films but I enjoy watching comedy films or being a part of such flicks. The audience will however get to watch the two leading actresses in this film doing front-footed comedy like earlier days in cinema.
Bhumi Pednekar
Q (to Rakul and Bhumi): Take us through your chemistry in the film?
A. (Bhumi): When I read the script for the first time, I think the bits that I have enjoyed the most were the two strong women who are right in their own ways and going for something that they want. The things that we do to each other in the film are hilarious. Those are some of my favourite scenes.
(Rakul): We actors enjoy and get a sudden high reading good scripts. The banter and level-up game that exists between mine and Bhumi's character in the script was the most fun part of it. Arjun too worked well (laughs). But what I mean to say is overall the script is so hilarious that it was really like a fun ride for us. It never seemed that we were working. It was really enjoyable.
