Poster of upcoming Bengali film Bhutopurbo unveiled
Kolkata/IBNS: The poster of upcoming horror story anthology Bhutopurbo was launched earlier this month at a cafe in Kolkata.
Co-directed by Kakoli Ghosh and Avinab Mukherjee, the film brings together three interconnected horror tales—Monihara by Rabindranath Tagore, Taranath Tantrik by Bibhutibhushan Bandopadhyay, and Sikar by Manoj Sen.
"Directing for the first time was a challenging task for us, plus I was nervous. The cast members were very punctual and co-operative. Especially once they were assigned the characters they stayed mostly in it and didn’t deviate from it, " said Avinab Mukherjee.
Produced by Indoshree Production, the film features Amrita Chattopadhyay, Sandipta Sen, Rupanjana Mitra, Satyam Bhattacharya, Saptarshi Maulik, and Suhotra Mukhopadhyay in key roles.

"I was very delighted when I got to know that I will be given the role of Taranath Tantrik. The directors had a very clear vision as to what they wanted. We didn’t face any problems as such during the shoot. Enjoyed the shooting, definitely no complaint about that," said Saptarshi Maulik.
"Firstly, everyone has done a wonderful job in the making of this Anthology. Our Co- Directors worked very patiently with us. Ever since I stepped in my acting career, or even as a kid I wanted to do a Horror movie. So, when I was offered the role of Tilottama I was very very excited and I hope I did justice to the character," said Sandipta Sen.
"I won’t say much but these three stories are entwined together beautifully and you will be able to understand that. A lot of effort has been made. I hope all of you do take out time to watch it in the theatres," said Suhotra Mukhopadhyay.
Satyam Bhattacharya and Amrita Chattopadhyay will portray Phanibhushan and Monimalika in Monihara, while Rupanjana Mitra takes on the mysterious role of Matu Pagli.
Saptarshi Maulik embodies the cult character Taranath Tantrik. In Sikar, Sandipta Sen will be seen as Tilottama, with Suhotra Mukhopadhyay playing Purnendu.
Bhutopurbo is slated for release in June 2025.
