Sanjay Leela Bhansali in legal soup after Love & War 'line producer' alleges fraud, misbehaviour and breach of trust
Mumbai/IBNS: A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali and two others after a man accused the director of fraud, misbehaviour and breach of trust during the production of upcoming Hindi film Love & War, media reports said.
Hospitality CEO Prateek Raj Mathur alleged he was hired as the line producer of Bhansali's due film but was later cancelled.
In his complaint with the Bikaner Police, Mathur alleged he was removed as the line producer by Bhansali and two of his team members without payment even after assigning him responsibilities.
The two others are Arvind Gill and Utkarsh Bali.
As per a report by Hindustan Times, Mathur said he had made all the necessary arrangements including coordination with the government departments for the film's shoot but when he met the film's team at the hotel, Bhansali and the two others misbehaved with him.
Police are probing into the alleged incident.
What's Love & War all about?
Helmed by Bhansali, the film features Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal in the lead.
It marks Bhansali's reunion with Ranbir Kapoor after Saawariya (2007), and a first-time collaboration with Vicky Kaushal.
Set in a contemporary wartime backdrop, the story centers on two Indian Armed Forces officers—Ranbir Kapoor’s character is dark and aggressive, whereas Vicky Kaushal’s is calm yet strong-willed, creating palpable tension and rivalry.
Amid speculation, Bhansali was clear that Love & War is not a remake of the 1964 classic Sangam. Instead, it is a contemporary, emotionally rich narrative he's crafting with care.
