Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone in legal soup for 'endorsing faulty car'
Mumbai/IBNS: Bollywood superstars Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and six Hyundai officials have been named in a First Information Report (FIR) filed over a complaint lodged by a customer, who claimed he was delivered a defective car, media reports said.
Kirti Singh, an advocate from Bharatpur in Rajasthan, bought a Hyundai Alcazar car in 2022 from Malwa Auto Sales Pvt. Ltd. in Sonipat, The Times of India said.
Singh, who bought the car with an advanced payment of Rs. 51,000 and the rest of the money was loaned, claimed he started facing technical problems soon after the purchase.
He claimed the most serious problems were linked to the accelerator and engine management system, the daily reported.
Singh said despite reporting the problems to the company, he was offered no help.
Neither repair nor refund was given by the company forcing him to take the legal route.
Acting on his complaint, a Bharatpur court asked police to register an FIR. The Mathura Gate Police has started its probe into the complaint.
SRK and Deepika have been named in the complaint by Singh for allegedly promoting a defective car.
The Hyundai officials named in the FIR are the company's Managing Director Ansoo Kim, Chief Operation Officer Tarun Garg and the directors of Malwa Auto Sales Pvt. Ltd.
On the work front, SRK and Deepika will collaborate for the sixth time on-screen in King, which will be directed by Siddharth Anand.
King also features SRK's daughter Suhana Khan.
Apart from King, Deepika, who is yet to return to work after embracing motherhood last year, will team-up with Allu Arjun for Atlee's AA22xA6.
