Buddy Marathon: A step towards an inclusive Society
Buddy Marathon, a unique event for specially abled children was organized by Rotary Club of Calcutta Mahanagar, Unmish Learning Centre and Kolkata Police Sergeant’s Institute and Police Athletic Club on Sunday.
The event was flagged off by Commissioner of Police, Kolkata Sri Manoj Kumar Verma.
The marathon was attended by more than 350 specially abled children who showed tremendous grit, motivation and ran spiritedly to either half marathon of 1 ½ k.m. or full marathon of 3 k.m.

The event started from Police Athletic Club and went upto Vijay Dwar via Red Road and finished at the Police Athletic Club.
This unique inspiring marathon for specially abled individuals with their buddies was organized by Rotary Club of Calcutta Mahanagar known for its tremendous humanitarian service in the fields of health, literacy, disaster management etc and Unmish Learning Centre, a centre for specially abled children and by Kolkata Police.

The event was also attended by Past Rotary International President Mr Shekhar Mehta, District Governor of Rotary District 3291 Dr Krishnendu Gupta, President of Rotary Club of Calcutta Mahanagar Smt Pramila Dugar, Director of Unmish Smt Nita Diwan and General Secretary of Kolkata Police Sergeants’ Institute Sri Kusum Kumar Dwivedi.

This Buddy Marathon attended by more than a thousand people was a celebration of determination, resilience, and unity, bringing together people from all walks of life to promote a more inclusive society.

The event highlighted the spirit of togetherness, emphasizing that ability knows no bounds.
